DITI of the Abdomen on twenties` Dysmenorrhea Patients

Abstract
Dysmenorrhea is one of the common gynecologic disorders of menstruating women.
Dysmenorrhea refers to the pain appearing in the lower abdomen and lower back before, after or during menstration. In oriental medicine, the causes of dysmenorrhea have been recognized as something penetrated such as qi, blood, and pathologic factors.
These conditions can inhibit the circulation of Chong Ren Channel. This study examined the relationship between the abdomen surface temperature and dysmenorrhea. An analysis was performed on the thermographic findings of 50 patients complaining of dysmenorrhea, 50 not complaining of dysmenorrhea, who visited the Kangnam Korean Hospital, KyungHee University, Seoul, Korea, from Aug 1999 to May 1999.
The body temperature was assessed by DITI. Thermogrphic measurements were performed on 4 areas (upper(A), right(B), lower(C) and left(D) abdomen)
All data were coded for computer analysis and significances were tested by unpaired t-test .
DITI revealed the significant hypothermia of lower abdomen(p<0.05) on the dysmenorrhea patients compared with control group
These results suggest that the difference between upper and lower abdomen temperature is remarkably related to the occurance of dysmenorrhea among the twenties. DITI may be afavorable to the diagnosis and assessment of dysmenorrhea.
